I need to make a part.
Ø .625". 1.5" long. Threaded 32 TPI. (using a die as my lathe won't cut 32 TPI threads).
Bored with a taper of .250"-.268"
Thanks
Round Part? Lathe? 10-32 tap? Set the compound at .002 degrees off parallel the ways (.012 per inch), Synchronize the spindle and the compound screw and turn both of them by hand. Probably can't be done. I can't do it, anyway.
Oh. External. same deal, angle the other way, maybe.
Wait a minute, bored .250 - .268. You want to make a die?
I need to ammend my post. The bore is not tapered but two different sizes. This makes things easier.
I would also like some suggestions on a nice small boring bar that would fit into a .25" hole.

The smallest boring bar I can find is .317". You may need to grind a HSS tool for your needs. Could you drill and use a reamer? Wait, addendum #1. Tool-Flo make a boring kit for a minimum .180" hole. KBC Tools page 205 in the catalogue Part #1-294-071. Not cheap $259.00 Canadian currency
Hope this helps
Martin
If part is 1.500 long and has two bores one .25 dia and other bore .268 you could drill and ream .25 thru then ream the .268 dia to get the second dia bore. Making it a simple job.
