It depends...

What is the market like in your area?

These are great LEARNING lathes as they will force you to do additional stuff for good outcome.

They are simple so better for new person.

Price seems about 2x normal though.

However it seems everything is more...

Seems to be the going rate at the moment, I’m based out of New Jersey. Looking though marketplace and Craigslist mainly.

With all the tools etc you have a good price. Some will say offer 500 and others will say higher. It depends on their bias against Atlas lathes. Everything else depends on the wear that is existing on the machine. Any lathe is as accurate as the operator.

I would say it depends on your budget and fits your needs . Find out if the seller is motivated and go from there .

I will amend pdentrem's advice. Any lathe which has unworn ways and good bearings, is as accurate as the operator.

Perhaps it is lens distortion, or camera angle, but the largest pulley on the drive-train looks odd.

First, welcome. You will get plenty of good opinions here and can learn quite a bit from reading the many threads of people just like yourself.

How many lathes have you looked at? Learning about lathe capabilities and thinking about what you want to make are important before you go calling with your friend Benjamin.

The lathe pictured might be fine, but you will be missing a quick change gear box which is useful for threading and changing auto feeds. Also, the work envelope and rigidity are on the lower end of the scale. Price is close to top dollar.

You‘re in New Jersey so not that far from great machine tool hunting areas. Yes, condition is critical but as someone here said “ya can’t add iron”.

I’d keep looking if I were you.

Too much money for a lathe without a quick change gearbox and power cross-feed. Regardless of your anticipated needs, the lathe you get will always be too small/limited before long. Don't start out that way. Keep looking

Here are some much better choices:

This first Heavy 10 is a very good deal for a very good machine.

Damn, you're just awash in good machinery back there!

I'll include this one just because it's a screamin' good deal for a lathe I'd kill to have.
