Package to draw and assemble parts

I apologize for asking such an open quesiton. I am design a device made of about 20 parts. I would like to design each one and then be able to assemble them using software. All I need from the part designs are the dimensions, they are all prety straight forward.
The system is Linux based, I would like to us a LInux based package. What packages offer this, hopefully is an straight forward manner.
Again I apologize for the open ended question, but I a stuck getting started in CAD. Dan

FreeCad does seem to be pretty powerful- and it's open source

I like it well enough, I don't know any OTHER CAD packages, but it does seem a little clunky /buggy at times for me.

That said, I've used it a few times with success (see the rotary broach project!) and been reasonably happy with the results.
