I picked up this Reed 14” extra heavy lathe a couple weeks ago and am in search of info on it and any one’s input on the machine. I found a small piece of literature on vintage machinery but haven’t found much beyond that. I have to get a motor put on it and some tooling once I get it cleaned up. Interesting, no lead screw; a production model made for roughing.

Dang, they weren't kidding about the "extra heavy" part, were they? Tell me you picked up that cool Burgmeister (sp?) drill press in the background too!

Interesting lathe. It's a stripped down model :)

Looks like it's from the same erra as my Mueller 18" engine lathe I picked up in Nova Scotia Canada. Early 1900s, I have a similar challenge. Keith Rucker posted a 3 page sales brochure from the day and that's it for info!!
Let me know what you find out about yours as mine is VERY similar.IMG_20230801_153916691.jpg
