I just got a delivery of a relatively recent manufacture Sanford surface grinder. (1981) The grinder appears to have sat around for 40 years and was probably used 1 or 2 times in its entire life. There is some surface rust on every part due to lack of use and being just put away -- ways, spindle, handles, top slide are all rusty. But they will all clean out quite easily. Everything is smooth and tight. I am very excited to finally find one especially in this condition after a long wait ( 4 years)

Anyway it did not come with grinding disks or spindle nut. Does anyone know where I can find a spindle nut that fits this particular grinder?

Anyone else have one of these? Any advice for a new owner?

Here you go.

Damn that thing looks almost new! I have one as well. Not sure where to get parts you may need to buy used on eBay or make your own.

It's stuff like this that keeps me up at all hours scanning FB marketplace, craigslist, and Ebay...
Congratulations on your score! No help here though. You'll probably have to make what's missing. There was a box of random Sanford SG parts for sale on eBay. I think he wants a thousand bucks or something like that. If money is no object that might be an option.

I saw that post of random junk on eBay for $1000. At that price I can easily see making my own parts.
If anyone can tell me what that part’s dimensions are — that would be super helpful.

I’ll measure up with some pics later….

I've bought a few things from Sopko for a Reid and Dumore grinders.
They might be able to help.
