I'm in the middle of putting back together a Seneca Falls lathe. Unfortunately I did not take a picture of the bearings for the headstock. Anyone have an idea of if the oil slinger is in the right place. Also trying to figure out what the metal groove ring is for.

Bearings in question:

You have wrong. The ring that looks like a wedding band is the oil slinger, the other "washer' looking thing is the thrust bearing. The oil slinger goes where you have the washer, and the washer goes against the flange on the threaded end of the spindle.

Looks to me like the red ring is a thrust washer, and the metal ring is an oiling ring and should be in the central oil well.

I agree. I have a Seneca Falls Star #20. It has a similar headstock. The major difference being only 3 belt lands rather than the 4 on yours. The oil slinger flops around the spindle in the center cavity.

Any favorite brands of serpentine belts to use? I wanted to add that in there before I torque the headstock down.
