Sheet Metal Box Brake

Finished construction of a 16" box brake for bending up small boxes and things.

The brake was built mostly from some old 1/2 steel plate, 3 inch angle iron and other steel I bought from the Metals Supermarket Drop zone.

It is inspired by the brake on Mr Wellwood's Shop of Horrors website.

The cam action adjustments and closing mechanism are pulled almost directly from the plans published.

Fabricated a new bead roller as an accessory to the brake.





The gears and chain are from a Honda Element oil pump that needed replacing.

I made the dies in a modular fashion, so they can be stacked and arranged in a number of different configurations.

The sleeves on the end of the shafts are threaded and can adjust in and out to fine tune the alignment.
