Hello, all!

Earlier today I recalled hearing a song on a country music station a bunch of years ago… possibly in Austin, Texas. The lyrics are, “There’s a truck that hauls the garbage off [ pronounced Gorbachov] in Moscow Idaho.”

I’ve been searching fo this song all morning, but so far, no joy. Among other problems, I can’t recall who recorded it.

Any assistance any of you might offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think it made the top forty. Usually a Google search will turn up the song but if it was old and obscure enough, quite probably no one ever put it to paper.

Been a country fan for 50 years and don't recall those lyrics , and mostly " old country " .

did a pretty heavy search (cos they sounded cool) but couldnt find anything.

There isn't any song with those lyrics that I could find.
It's possible it's a spoof?
I only found one song that even mentioned Moscow, Idaho.

In Moscow, Idaho, there's a bridge across the river
Where a young man walked to meet his girl each day
It was there they fell in love and swore that they'd be true forever
And that they'd never let the world get in their way

But then the war came along and the young man had to leave her
To fight for his country in a far-off foreign land
But he promised her he'd come back when it was over
And they'd build a life together, hand in hand

Now she writes him a letter every single morning
She tells him all about the things he's never seen
And she prays that he is safe, that he's coming home real soon
To the place where their life together begins

In Moscow, Idaho, there's a bridge across the river
Where an old man walks to meet his love each day
He thinks back on their life and all the years that they've been given
And how they made it through, come what may

Now they're sitting on the porch, watching the sunset
Holding hands, sharing stories from their youth
And he thanks God for the love that he's been blessed with
In Moscow, Idaho, where dreams come true

In Moscow, Idaho, there's a bridge across the river
Where a young man walked to meet his girl each day
It was there they fell in love and swore that they'd be true forever
And that they'd never let the world get in their way

No clue, but the thought made me nostalgic (even if it was Gorby that pretty much facilitated the dismantling of the USSR).
