Well I bought a cheapo HVLP gun from harbor freight , with a 1.4 tip, and painted both front doors today. Used an alkyd - water based enamel from Benjiman Moore. No more Sherwin - Williams, although in truth I doubt there is much difference in these water based enamel formulations.
Anyway, the gun worked OK, considering the novice user.
One question - the gun would hiccup and stop shooting paint every 10 or 15 seconds. Just a misfire, then would continue spraying- leaving a 1 or 2 second blank spot. I equate it to a 'hiccup' in the spray line.
What causes this? And how does one mitigate it??
Thanks
