First time hearing anything about Takisawa lathes!

There's a Takisawa Max-800 8X30 Lathe for sale near me that looks interesting.
It could use a good cleaning & some paint, But the seller states it runs good.
Looks like a good solid & heavy built lathe!
I was wondering if it was worth checking out?
Are parts like a steady rest or follow rest hard to find?

In general, yes, if it doesn't come with it already, accessories are hard to find. The set of gears is what many buyers find missing.

See the other threads on Takisawa lathes. It is a solid and heavy lathe, conservatively designed with thrust bearings all over the place, easy and satisfying to use. It’s apparently still in production somewhere, with a Takisawa sales office in the US and I have talked with a rep there who offered to try to find parts for me, But I have not needed to purchase anything, just making a few knobs, etc. I found a 12.5” faceplate on Craigslist last week, pretty much completed a collection of accessories. I need (!) only a follower rest and a taper attachment. Life goes on fine without them so far.

Takisawa makes several models/styles of lathes. Make sure you look for information on the TSL models.
I have not found anything I don’t like about my TSL 800-D. It is built like the brick...house.
