Well looks likeI need a knee replacement they want todo it next month. I here it is a painful. I just been reading about the problems and pain associated with this procedure. Any one here tell me how long I can expect to be out of the shop? I figure my fishing and camping will be over for the rest of this year for sure. I’m hopping to be able to do some thing in the shop before the deep freeze returns.
Thanks for looking

I think you'll be fine- You'll probably be surprised how fast they get you back on your feet with a single crutch- when you can smack people with it you'll know you've recovered

My brother-on law on the UK had both his knees replaced (not at the same time). He was told that he had to remain in the hospital until he could walk on it. Not wanting to stay in the hospital, he was out in three days.

My elderly mother at 99 years old had a hip replacement. She was pretty much back to normal in 4 weeks. A friend had her knee replaced and her and her husband were traveling all over Europe a month after the surgery. The key to quick recovery is doing exactly what the PT tells you to do. No more and no less.

My brother in law, had two knees done, (two different times), and was back to work within a week.

Mark I was reading about a machine called the X10 therapy machine that has worked wonders for TKA patients it mechanically works your knee and keeps the degrees you bend your knee to get the range of motion as prescribed by you doctor/physical therapist. Range of motion is about the most important thing for getting back to normal, that and managing the pain, my doctors words not mine. A friend of mine had both knees done, he had bone on bone like me and he said it hurt like hell both times “ I was a hurting Bas##d for 3 weeks” man I hope not. he said it took a full year to get back to normal

A friend of mine did not follow PT rehab instructions, and has a frozen knee. They said that they could put him out re mobilize it, and he would start over, he declined.

I also had a hip replaced about 5 years ago and was up walking with a walker that night, it hurt like hell, went home the next day. It was painful but doable. I’m having a little anxiety about this though.

Yea I read about that too. They call that Manipulation Under Anesthesia, MUA and they say never do that, do your PT rehab and work through it. The X10 has about a 99% success rate to get you back to 130 deg. range of motion with minimum pain, I guess, like I said I’m trying to get a machine delivered to my house, your supposed to use it 3 times a day for like a month. Sure hopping to get one.
