A dream comes true.

As a 6th grader, I was not overly motivated to read books. Then I got a copy of a book titled "The Red Car" by Don Sanford. The story is about a 16 year old kid in Colorado that rebuilds wrecked MG TC and races it. I read that book many times (At least I was reading) and it sparked a life long love of British cars in general and MG TC's in particular.

The TC with it's graceful, classic lines and total impracticality was always just beyond my means. Settling instead for the more “modern” and therefore more useful British cars, I lived my life, raising my family, working at my career. Now comfortably retired, I realized that I can now afford a “driver” quality MG TC. After searching for 9 months I found a solid car that needs just the right amount of TLC to satisfy my desire, even the right color! A red 1948 MG TC. It's the first car that I have owned that is actually older than I am!

I will now spend the winter rewiring, rebuilding the brakes (old cars with single circuit brakes need extra attention), rebuild the cooling system and a list of other minor things that need attention.

By the way, I still have that book!

Major Awesome!!!! Always liked those :applause 2: My first car was a 1960 MGA when I was 15, got it for $100 ;)

I read that book too in elementary school. So cool.
Looks like it's in great condition (body wise).
Hows the wood?

Beautiful looking car. Just can't beat the old ones for style.

Mine was a 1962 Austin Healy Sprite, my wife and I went on our first date in that car. She says that car was the only reason she went out with me. We've been married for 47 years now!

Like getting in a time machine. Had a friend that had two of those. Really pretty cars. I have two TR 6's that are both getting different modern drive lines. Cheers, Mike

Very nice, I was a Triumph owner for many years.

Our CTO at work brought in his project yesterday, thought you might appreciate it given your username, it's also red....

That's our SRF powertrain in there, 140 ft-lbs of torque and 110 horsepower. It's a handful...
