Stumbled onto a Bodine ASH-600 controller cheap. Interesting part my Burke mill X axis is missing the controller and I had just finished rewiring it and has the task of how I was planning to control it.

Now with Bodine ASH-600 in hand, I am not sure on the four connection which two are shunt and which two as the armature.
Of course I am not sure if it really works but that I can fix.
Search of internet has dozens of offers to repair but not one spec or tech data to be found. So before I dissect this box to draw up a schematic I hope to find some-one with some info.

Can you post some pictures of it Spice? We might be able to ID the wires

I have the front and label picture already. Will have to get the connector photo and such as soon as I can get back out to work shop.

The connector is a 6 pin with four used. and a external ground.
 
Cooled down in shop so I got out and took picture of connector, and insides.

The inside is dirty so cleaned it, now need to set and dry for electrical cleaner. But prior I did find two of the pins had 120v dc on them the other pair not so, seemed erratic values.
In check connection the two with 120 go to board with labels F1 and F2 (so shunt connections). The other are switched fwd and rev. armature.

But big issue is operating values ( I and E ) and if they meet my motor.

The filed volts look in the ballpark.

Now if it can provide the current and armature I am set with my $8 special.
 
If your motor is 1/4 hp or less it should work fine

Tip: mark the positions of the internal trimmer pots with a sharpie; you may need to apply some contact cleaner and "exercise" them a bit
