Anyone familiar with this type/Brand? Any thoughts to it's worth?

Looks like an Asian copy of a Nr. 1 with all the trimmings. Having bought a similar (non-universal) one lately, I think that would cost you $500 minimum. If it's a B&S, multiply that by at least 3-5x. What's the story?

Its up for auction tomorrow.

Not positive, but I think that dividing head is a "universal dividing head" and has a connection for a drive shaft from the machine, so it can do things like making helical gears. That feature costs quite a bit more, and would not give the added functionality to a mill that does not have a drive shaft to the table. Most (all?) vertical mills are not equipped with the drive shaft to drive the dividing head.

Sold for $261. Not to me though.

That is my story when my funds are at a low.
Sorry

My understanding is that these could be used on a universal horizontal milling machine to machine helixes on parts or tools (think helical milling cutters). These milling machines would have a provision to drive the dividing head on one end of the table, typicaly with change gears (some of which were shown in the picture above) in order to change the helix angle. The table of the universal mill could be swiveled to accomodate the angle of the helix. Of course it can also be used as a standard dividing head, as well.
