Backbencher Suggested this idea to me so the credit is all his! Does anyone here believe a breech loading single shot pistol unit could be fitted to a steel frame Colt cap and ball replica? I can envision it to a great degree but the cartridge of choice would need to remain within the power level of a hot loaded 44/45 cap & ball loaded with Triple 777 powder. I have been craving a 25/20 single shot Squirrel Getter for quite some time, but a 256 Winmag loaded only with cast bullets should be safe and maybe the 357 Mag could work too. I am looking for ideas that might work. What barrel length do you suggest? Maybe a 16 incher with a detatchable butt stock? Which cartridge do you suggest? Which breeching system do you suggest? How high above the old line of sight would you suggest? What barrel diameter do you suggest? Scope? Sights?
