I was contemplating on using a rodless air cylinder on my DSM-59 for turning wood also . I think it could be done with air flow controls and a few basic parts I have lying around .

There’s a worm and hand wheel setup underneath a lot of older tablesaws, maybe easier to find a scrap one of those somewhere. Dunno, scrap stuff seems to always be around when you don’t need and when you do it’s impossible to find!
