Anyone have recommendations for turning Nylon 6/6

Good advice above. High positive, and not as fast as it seems possible. About the worse plastic I have worked with is pure Teflon. I have a 4" chunk of it, and dread getting an order for the parts.

Dear People

Machine lots of plastics ... all different types ... never use a tool with rake ... flat top tools in lathe made of high speed steel ... do not turn too fast as the plastic tends to melt ... you need to experiment with rpm.
One of my freinds had 40 stitches put in face through using a tool with rake in the lathe ... the tool with rake hooked the the piece out of the lathe and hit him the head ... gastly.
If I have to put a radius on the point the tool I use a stone if small and a diamond file if its is say 1 mm, but after I have done that I grind the tool flat on top to make sure the form is sharp ... no roll over.
If turning a square corner I still put a small radius, might only be .005" , otherwise with a sharp point of the grinder it will give you a bad finish.
