Armstrong Tool Holder To Qctp Holder?

With my lathe I got two left hand Williams brand Armstrong type tool holders (for a lantern toolpost) and one straight holder. All three have built in rake angles so you don't have to grind them into the tool.

I had the idea to bolt (not weld) some angled brackets to the side and add a height adjustment screw so I could use them as QCTP holders. Would this be a bad idea? Would I ruin the holders?

I did get two lantern toolposts, but I've never used them.

I think I'd take some 1" square and drill/tap some holes in it to mate the holder to it, and mill it to size for your QC holders. Use your QC for height adjustment. Maybe 1 1/4" even, the wider the better as you can space the bolts out further. I'd be concerned that a simple angle bracket would not be rigid enough.

Might consider a face mill operation on the proper side of the holder so it would sit flat on the bar stock.
