Morning All, I just purchased a Craftsman commercial lathe and want to remove the carrage, Does the nut on the tailstock end of the leadscrew have a specific torque spec when I put it back together?

I may be wrong, but my understanding is that there is a torque spec there somewhere, something about a clutch adjustment, don't want to mess up. LOL

Thanks all.

John.

Thank you, I don't think I have enough posts to get the downloads yet.

John.

Also you do not need to remove the nut on the lead screw. You just have to remove the 2 screws on the bearing Assy. Then the lead screw and bearing just slides off to the right. The nuts on the lead screw are adjusted to remove excessive play in the lead screw.

Thanks for the reply Rob, yeah, Duh, I didn't think about that. Had a senior moment, LOL. Wanted to clean up the carrage and crosslide assembly. The lathe was in storage covered in what looked like cosmoline, but it kept everying in great condition, just wanted to make sure to get all that crud out.

Thanks, John.
