BB2V Spindle Removal

Looking for experience/guidance/suggestions. The top pulley has a two hole spanner nut, no idea what's under that. I'm considering locking a rod in the spindle with a ell at the bottom to put in a table vee way to see if that will hold enough to remove the nut. I've given the nut a couple of heat gun thermo cycles with P'Blaster to try to help.
