I have an engine stand that i mounted a Blanchard ground plate that I use as a mobile welding table . The old vise mounted was handy but the jaws were so worn that they only closed tight in the center . I made a new set from some steel scrap I had on hand , adding a horizontally and vertically V grooves , offsetting on one side . The other day I see Eastwood selling a vise that had attachments that would expand and hold odd shape items . Made up my own brackets , drilled and reamed the jaws that I made. Here’s the Eastwood vise and pictures of mine . https://www.eastwood.com/yost-mv-5-...mlEngaged+Plus+Retail&sc_eh=ae1f89f0437bfdc41

That's an interesting approach. I like it! I have a fixture that mounts in a vise for a similar purpose, but is quite a bit different. It's probably not as flexible in what it will hold, but might have a bit more grip...I'll have to take some pics.

Neat - reminds me of a watch case vise; also a bit similar to dogs on a woodworking vise. Never crossed my mind mod a metal/machinist vise like that; nice mod!
