I know a little about Ceramic inserts, they are made for high speed and hard material. Can they be used for everyday machining or are they to brittle? Thanks

Generally speaking, they would not be the best choice. They shine when used on highly abrasive materials, and very hard materials. If you have some, maybe you could trade with someone who has a need, but also has more standard inserts that you could use. In the home shop, unless you are running the more abrasive, hard materials, there certainly isn't any advantage to them, and I believe you'll find they don't last long in "normal" machining.

They work real good to turn broken milling cutters for use as small centers, real handy for use on mill to eyeball center a part IMHO.
