This looks like a good place to post this chart. After 30 years of Machining, I spent my last ten in outside sales for shop tooling. I still have a chart which I believe would help individuals get a tad better understanding of chip formers and cutting physics.
It is not only for new hobbyists, but for some of us "older" machinists too.

Thank you, I didn't know a chart like this was available. Just finished printing it and next I will laminate in plastic, take to the garage. This answers a lot of questions.
