An elegant modification, to say the least. And not all that difficult to build. The only difference I would add is to use a 12 point socket allowing engagement every 30 degrees instead of 60.
With all that said, it is still a dog clutch. Not as obvious, but a dog clutch none the less.. I will maintain my opinion that a friction clutch would be a better solution in the long term. As in the motor can be engaged at any position. Not necessary to run the motor until it can engage.
