I'm helping some friends to prepare a leaflet for a sort of county fair: they bring me the business cards of the sponsors and I convert them (At least, I try) with Inkscape into something printable.
Here is a conversation I had with a restaurant owner, who gave as "sample" of his logo a 6 mm high rubber stamp (poorly inked, too) on a paper towel.

Me - «Hello, I need to know the name of the font of your logo.»
Sponsor - «What is a font?»
Me - «The type of writing.»
S. - «It's the name of my restaurant.»
Me - «Yes, but I need to know the name of the type of characters used.»
S. (thinking I'm mad) «There is an R, then an E, then an S, then a T…»
Me - «I know that! But on the computer the set of shapes of the letters used to write has a name.»
S. «Really?»
Me - «Yep. Like Arial, Times, and so on. But the one of your logo is not a standard one.»
S. - «I don't know. The logo was made by my nephew, who is really skilled with the computer because has his photo on Facebook» (alluding to the probability that I'm not skilled)
Me - «Ok, when can I find your nephew?»
S. - «He'll be back in September or October, now he's working as waiter in London.»
Oh, the poor computer genius!
Me - «I think I can find something similar, but I don't assure you it will be exactly the same.»
S. «Oh! A writing is a writing! Who care which fountain is used, if there is my brand name?»
Me - «Ok. Bye.»
