I have "cheap " china DROs on my mill and a large lathe and they have worked great with no problems.
Now I want to install a DRO on my clausing lathe, but unless I tear it down and machine the carrriage, there is no room for a glass scale on the carriage.
Is it possible to mix a glass scale with a maginetic scale on the same readout? and are the magnetic scales prices afordable (small one for the cross slide)?

You would need to ask the manufacturer/seller if the reader is compatible with both scale types and how to set them up properly. It's certainly possible that it could work. The mag scales might output the same format, but I would ask first.

I looked into mag scales, they are too rich for my taste, but that's just me. A number of sellers offer smaller glass scales for a small price increase, you might be able to mount one of those as well. Not as small as the mag scales, but it's something to consider.
