EBay Mis-Identification

Looks like a hammer to me. Inserts are made (should be included in the sale) that match the situation at hand. Brass, lead or plastic inserts are used.

$50 is a little steep.

It's amazing how much value can be added by simply adding the the descriptor "vintage".

I actually just made one of these or I would make an offer. Should I tell him what it is???
Ya know, it could make a cool hammer as SKL suggests!? Maybe need a longer handle.

It's vintage dual purpose tool , hammer and die holder. It's a one of custom design.

Die, not a tap holder, but I'm going to blame blondihacks for her tappity-tap-tap with a hammer. I think that has confused people. ;)

I'm gonna offer $25 and make a nylon hammer just to screw with y'all.

And the same seller has a 4# machine hammer for only $100!!

I can't get him to sell me this hammer for $25. Which I think is a fair price for this type of socket wrench! Even if it was a hammer it would not be worth $50!

Remember the snap gauge that was described as a “jeweler’s hammer”?
