Finger Treadle

Man Thanks November X-ray, I've been looking for a project, and this looks like a fun little Test bed for some engine ideas and learning

Here are a couple of examples I found on YouTube.

Interesting projects.

Thanks for the Links Hawkeye!

I now have an idea for building one using a eccentric type crankshaft that will use two opposing thumb actions. Somewhere I saw a little desk top gadget that blew up a balloon called the "Executive Inflator". I think I will try and build something similar using the treadle power to blow up a balloon.

Had lunch with an old friend yesterday near The Miniature Engineering Craftsmanship Museum in Carlsbad, CA. I left some extra time in the day to visit and spent most of it in their library. Among the many Projects in Metal back issues, this Finger Treadle project really amused me. I scanned it and a few other articles before leaving to beat traffic home.

This morning I found this thread plus a few more recent YouTube videos below. I thought I'd update this thread a bit, since I'm obviously not the only one amused...

David Pessall's build from the PIM plans

Project Factory's minimalist CNC version

Chuck's exquisite heirloom quality gifts

and Dave Gjessing's single mounted, geared concept

Not sure if I can post the PIM scans without being tarred and feathered, but I'm happy to do so with absolution from the mods.
