Hi All

Here are some pictures of my first lathe project. I made this Machinist Hammer with replaceable Brass, Copper, and Delrin Heads. It turned out so nice my friends were joking with me that it is to pretty to use. I of course ignored that and have been using it ever since I finished it.

A light knurl on the handle might be a useful added touch, otherwise nice job.

Excellent job - actually, superb for a first project.

Questions:
What are approximate dimensions and weight?
What material did you use for handle and head?

Regards

What type of lathe do you have? Great job on the hammer. That will be most useful in the future.

Cutting oil is my blood.

Looks great! You will be more satisfied in the future using tools that you have made to make other tools. Then using those tools to make projects.

I do not like the way the knurl feels on my hand but I was thinking of putting a bunch of groves in the handle to help the grip.

Here is a pic of the dimensions for the hammer. I did not follow them completely as you can see but it was a great guide.

The piece of steel I used was given to me and was marked 4130 on one end but I am not sure if that is what it is.
