As promised, I took my quarter scale Napoleon cannon with me on vacation along with another hard drive destined for destruction. With all of the family commitments, it took a while to get around to it, but this morning I dragged it out on the beach and cancelled the hard drive's ticket. I think the movie clip and pics show that the results were favorable. I need to find someone with a chronograph and find out what the velocity of the ball is. By the looks of that hole it was moving along at a pretty good clip.

About 350 grains of Hogdon triple seven, which works out to 400 grains of black powder. It has an impressive report that you feel more than hear.

It generally rolls back four to six feet when shooting a ball, less with blanks.
