I am helping a friend with his rf40 (I think) geared head mill. He has 2 stripped gears. One of them he was able to order from MSC years ago.
The other (mating gear) was only available as an assembly for $400.

The gear appears to be a mod2, 46mm pitch diameter, 37mm hub diameter, approx 10mm gear face width.

The other dimensions can be machined to fit, so not very critical. I think the hub internal diameter is 25mm, with a 5mm key.

I can find companies online but they want more to ship the damn gear than the gear costs! Any ideas/thoughts on a good source for gears for the older RF mills?

Did you try Grizzly? I've gotten parts for my old Enco badged RF30 and my HF 9x20. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a model that is the same.
