If you need to know the name of a font (e.g. a customer has a logo to be CNC engraved) there are a couple of useful font identifiers online.
The easier requires just to post an image with the font you are searching and the software will try to guess the best correspondence for it.
You can find it here: http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/
The other identifier ask you many parameters about the font (serif, slant, etc.) then propose you a list of fonts matching those parameters.
The site is http://www.identifont.com/
I hope you find them useful: I use them often, because it's faster than to browse a list of some hundreds of fonts visually looking for a match.
