The G0619 uses a pin spanner to hold the spindle while you tighten the R8 collets. Some tooling is so close to the spindle nose that you cannot get the spanner in. My spanner is also getting worn, leading to slips and bruised knuckles. Coming up with an improved spindle lock has been on my list for a long time. There are commercial options but I have trouble dropping $100 for something that I can make myself.

The lock sits on top of the mill head casting. It has an aluminum body with a hardened steel pin that engages with the splines on the mill spindle. As the mill has been CNC'd and the spindle is locked in position, the splines no longer serve any purpose. The body and knob were clear anodized.
