This is an old Standard foundry Hand crank Drill press I reconditioned. It has a home made auto feed mechanism driven off a cam lobe on the crank gear. Works great for arm exercise and it has drilled a 1" hole in steel. My Dad used it to make an old Willys car into a tractor.

just out of curiosity - how many cranks does it take to get through 1" steel?

Those are great drill presses I have one myself. Been thinking about cutting a V grove in the flywheel and putting a 1/4 hp motor on it.

Nice job! I love to see vintage machinery put back to use.

My uncle has one of those that I used to play with as a kid. We would see how fast we could get it going and it's a wonder none of us lost an arm. Maybe I should see if he wants to part with it.
