Wondering if it would be a useful thing for me.

Whoops should have googled that myself!

I have a 1917 version that I downloaded from somewhere, list price for the bound book was 50 cents at the time!

If the current versions are the same it's a decent little book, especially for people just starting out. Gives an overview of many of the basic hand tools and measuring instruments one might typically use.

Thannks @francist, I think I found the 1917 version online. I wonder if the new version content is different.

Indeed, although aside from carbide and digital there's lots of things that are unchanged. How to read a vernier scale, how to hold a micrometer properly, what are the standard sizes of Morse tapers, how to position or hold work effectively, etc. I don't know, to me that sort of information is timeless.
