I am reconstructing a 2J head from parts and am stuck on attaching the speed control chain to the speed control plate. Does anyone have a picture of the connection? I have the front assembly with the chain and the plate. I cannot find any detail on connecting the chain to the plate.
Does anyone have a picture or a diagram?
Thanks, Dan

If I recall, there is a small hole in the plate, I think a 0.125x1'' roll pin (#9) goes in there. Or a master link. I don't have a picture.

Can you post a picture of what you have there.

Jim's picture shows the chain in a "J" configuration. I had to install mine mirror image to that. Initially installed as shown in the picture but when rotating to increase speed it decreased speed. Yours may be different

Attached is a pix. I looks as though the chain goes up between the bent over lip and a dowel like mechanism goes in the slot and through the end of the chain. The chain does not fit between the folded over section. However the two chain ends do fit over the end piece with room for a dowel to fit in the gap. I am not sure which part number is used? Thanks, Dan

Yes you are missing a couple peices...
A cylinder that connects the chain and goes through the plate and has a roll pin through it

Thank you all. I found what looks like the cylinder. I will try that.
There is a second moderate problem. This is a composit build from a BOSS 5 base, BOSS 8 variable speed drive parts, and covers from an older 2J manual machine.
The good news: The BOSS head clutch cover is compatible with the older manual gear cover and the BOSS 8 variable speed drive parts fit the manual covers.
The bad news is the speed control does not fit the manual covers; the bolt holes do not line up. There is a gap, there may be room for an adaptor plate. More on this later.
