Came across a post in the "The Beginners Forum (Learn how to machine here)" by a model railroad forum friend about a knurling tool. This reminded me of a thread I had seen here by MIKEY, (https://www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/a-straddle-knurler-for-the-sherline-lathe.83843/). I'm going to look into probably building two of these knurling tools, one for my Sherline lathe and one for my Logan lathe.

Main reason for this post is the knurl rollers. I looked for the Form-Rol knurl website and came up with a site that is "Not Secure" notice in the URL. It's been three years on this discussion. I'm wondering if I'm even looking at the right web site. Link below. Any info is welcomed.

That seems to be the correct website. They are an old school company, for sure. I think I called them on the phone.

I built the straddle knurler for my mini-lathe. Probably ought to build an upsized knurler for my larger lathe as the small one works extremely well.

Thanks for the come back.

I checked the Sherline web site for rolls and discovered they sell individual and sets of knurl rollers.

Can't vouch for the Sherline rolls, but the FormRol ones are very good. As I recall I had to send in a check, but I'm quite pleased with them. I bought the coarse and fine diamond ones as well as the simple vertical ones. I'd do business with them again. For the shafts I used HSS to minimize wear. A recent inspection shows slight scuffing of the finish on the shafts, practically no wear at all.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into FormRol again when I'm ready to do that project.
