Those cutters needn't go to waste, just keep in mind that the machine is over-matched when using them.
I inherited a few unused cutters with B&S #7 shanks. Not much use in that configuration, so I turned the shanks straight. Cut nicely with some brand name inserts I also inherited.

And that was per my second question about tips on interupted cuts using carbide. I trashed 3 trying to turn the shanks down on one cutter via the set screw flats, if that makes any sense. I honestly didn't think I was being aggressive with depth of cut
