I purchased a MT3 floating die holder for 13/16, 1, 1 5/16, and 1 1/2 inch dies, which seems to be common sizes. However, the 2 dies I brought for 3/8 24 threading, one round and the other hex shape, measure roughly 1.175 inches OD. Too big for the the 1" holder and too small for the 1 5/16. I ended up finding a 1 1/2 die at Zoro.

The good part is with your lathe you can make an adapter for whatever size dies you have.

For folks who are thinking about a tailstock die holder, look at the Hemingway kit. It has an excellent clutch design that works perfectly for control of the cut. One can also make a tap holder for power tapping, for which the clutch eliminates a lot of fear.
