Lathe Tack

I have a south bend 9" wide bed and i'am wondering if anyone has a simple and cheap tack setup or idea? I 'am using a danfoss 2000 dc controller with a treadmill motor to drive the spindle.

Greatwhite is also doing one on his larger Atlas. Super cheap, around $12-15 off eBay. Just need a 9-15V wall wart to power it.

Purchased a hall effect sensor and tachometer which uses a magnet to count pulses to determine RPM. Wired it into a box with a switch to change between lathe and mill since I have a 3 in 1 machine - It seems accurate to the 10RPM and that is close enough for me.
