[How-To] Making a 18” X 6’ tube

Customer called the other day and needs six aluminum tubes 18” id by 6’ long by 1/8” thick. Wants them made of aluminum. I don’t have the machinery to do it so I’ve been trying to find a shop that can make them. He came up with the idea of buying several 18” car rims, weld them together and use ratchet straps to try and bend the aluminum around the rims and weld the seam. I’m not sure if this will work or not. I’m thinking it will take a LOT of straps to roll it. Any ideas?

That's a 5 minute job on a 6'+ roller. Most sheetmetal fabrication shops have them. You can do the seam welding...
