How does one correct a mill head on a smithy that is “crooked”
Appears my mill head when looking at it from operating view the spindle is leaning towards the chuck like this /
Its possible it could be the bed ?
How to check one or the other.

You could place a gauge pin or something of known accuracy, like a carbide tool blank (rod)
Affix a dial indicator and feed the vertical spindle. On 2 sides.
The indicated error will tell you how far out you are

Probably not easy to correct if the error is machined into the structural parts- You would need to determine if the error is from the lathe to the column or the column to the head - or a bit of both?

First use a good level to make sure the ways on the machine are level, both ways, side to side, front to back. Then use the level to see if the table is level.
Then look up "tram a milling machine" or 'tramming a milling machine". See below. Tram with the spindle up and again with it down.
