Mill vs lathe to cut a disc?

Here I am, trepanning on the mill with a tool inherited from Fred. It was painful.

Find a way to do it on the lathe.

Saw it out close and turn to size on a pressure plate .

That’s sounds like an easier approach. I like it.

There is also a great MIT instructional video on trepanning a part on the lathe. Two sided tape on a faceplate, and cut until you reach the tape.

Combining two previous, for my money.
cut close with band or hack saw.
double sided tape on face plate
turn to final od
no special tool grinding required.

I have buttons home that I made up for just this type of job . If I can find the darn things I'll post a pic . Simple to make but very effective and you don't need no stinkin double sided tape .
