Minsk, we are progressing along similar paths. A few months ago I completed this thread protector. I did not really need it but decided to make it as a first step toward making an ER collet chuck. I'm now working on the collet chuck and have had a few setbacks, but getting there slowly. Your thread looks good. I had some trouble with chatter. I think my threading tool was not stiff enough.

i cheated ....i used an actual tap for my threads...my lathe does not have change gears... ...i have to do my little hole for my spanner wrench still...you build is very nice...i am putting a variable speed motor and forward and reverse with on mine
