a good friend, has a small excavator, and one of his front idler rolls(for the track)gernaded on him so he asked me to help fix him up,its an off shore unit so replacement parts are obsolete,so we have to make em.
had to take some pipe and make a collar that gets inserted and welded into the idler wheel, bored the inside to accept two bronze bushings(sorry no pics of that)and now im turning down a new axle for it,it had to be turned for the bushings in the center and the ends have to be turned down to 1"3/4,thats a lot of turning for the ancient 9"SB,but its awsome been some good education, and im getting better at setting up my 4jaw chuck,oh yeah got to play with some layout spray too! 8)heres some pics of whats happening so far, take care folks
