Ok folks I need a recommendation on a 60 degree chamfering mill. I want to make a few 60 degree V cuts in some mild steel.

I tried to make a cutter but that didn't work and I bought a cheap carbide cutter that held up for a one time use before breaking.

Any recommendations on a good 60 degree chamfering mill cutter that wont break the bank.

You don't mention the size cutter needed and the size of the V cut. While I realize the cutter comes to a point, overall cutter size does come into play. Solid carbide tools require a rigid setup to help prevent breaking. Carbide tipped tools are more resilient and forgiving. For deep V cuts, where possible it's best to first cut a relief groove before making the V cut.

I use router bits on many occasions in all materials up to and including stainless steel. Where possible I use 1/2'' shank tools rather than 1/4'' shank.

Might try to saw out the bulk, and/or slitting saw for a centerline relief.
