Nitpicking Paint

The paint on brazed carbide tools can be thick and uneven. I have taken to sanding the paint off the bottom of my tools because it makes for more positive contact with the holder. Is it just because I am not busy enough or does it really help to remove the paint?

It is easier to give them a thick coat of paint than to grind them properly. Monkey likes shiny...

They might be dipped in paint.

The paint is to cover the "made in china" stamp......
Some companies color code the tools according to application (RH,LH, facing, threading,etc,etc)

No, it means you care about the tools you use and their condition. A cemented carbide tool with paint on its bottom won't sit flat, will probably chatter, chip, degrade itself.

Right or wrong, I always clean the paint off.
