No roasting the newbie...

The video you posted was fantastic. I am only familiar with hand made knifes. Some of my Boy Scouts and Venture Crew took up machining and welding and black smiting. They now have jobs in those fields. Several have forged knives over the years. I can see where you would like to do this with your experience.
The speed I refer too is the RPM for the size of bit for type of metal. The bits used in the video were very small, therefore requiring very high speeds for use, especially since the odds are you will be using carbide. Check with the guys here to see what kind of speed for your material.
