Old metal star lathe

I saw an article on the internet about using a model t transmission on a lathe along with photos ....don't remember how i found it though ...but it out there somewhere...punch that in google it will come up! However that doesn't look like a transmission ...reduction gear or overdrive ?

Both these patents are assigned to Adelbert S. Davis of Seneca Falls, NY. In the 1910 federal census he is listed as a manufacturer of machinery. Early on his working career was that of a drug store clerk per the 1870 census. His father was a physician and his older brother a pharmacist. By 1880 he was a retail grocer. In 1900 he and his son show their occupations as "manufacturer of lathes". He died between 1915 and 1920.

American Machinist, Vol. 14, 1891:
The Seneca Falls Manufacturing Company has just been incorporated at Albany, N.Y. to manufacture sell and deal in machinery, tools, builders hardware and hardware specialties. The concern has a capital of $60,000 and the following trustees: Adelbert S. Davis, Paul B. Kendy, John Cuddleback, H.M.Darling, Eugenia Davis. [In some of the early census the Davis family were living with the Cuddleback family so their association went beyond business.]

Seneca Falls Historical Society, 1948:
In 1866, the late Adelbert S. Davis came to Seneca Falls and went to work in the drugstore of Dr. G. W. Davis and Son. ... and he afterwards became one of the most prominent citizens of Seneca Falls, in manufacturing machine tools, scrollsaws, and turning lathes. ... of scrollsaws and became manager of the Lewis Manufacturing Co., which later became the Seneca Falls Manufacturing Company. In 1878 ...

I've been a home machinist 30+ years and a researching genealogist 20 yrs. Researching this kind of stuff is pretty easy.
