My first thought is to cruise through eBay, see if somebody's selling a "vintage" micrometer for 20 bucks that looks like yours, with a little "patina' that includes chipped, rusted, or otherwise damaged anvil and/or spindle, or some other (essentially) unrecoverable damage. Then rob it for the parts.
